Hi Everyone! I’ve gotten a lot of work done within the last two weeks. First, I did a lot of work on my website this weekend. I re-formatted how my book reviews look on the site. Instead of it just including the text and title, I have now added a picture of the book cover, courtesy of Google Images, to every book review. This is to help all of my viewers and also to create a more professional looking image for my site. In addition, I added an author’s picture and the option where all of the book titles are available along the right hand side of the site and by clicking on a title, that specific review will pop up (so you don’t have to scroll through and try to find it). This is personally very exciting because the website is starting to come together so well.
Also, I would like to say that I have created flyers advertising my book review website. I hope to put these up at my local libraries and also around my school. At the end of this project, I really just want to have motivated people to find time to do the things that they love, especially if it is reading. After I have gotten more of my speech written, which I have unfortunately been slacking off on, I want to go and give it to anyone who wants to hear about the wonders of reading and being happy. I hope to talk to the librarians at my library about doing this before the school year ends, or even into the summer. Teenagers need to see that they are capable of anything if they put their minds to it; and that they can impact and give back to people even if it is small.
Lastly, I have finished reading Tessa & Scott Our Journey from Childhood Dream to Gold. It was a great book and I cannot wait to write the review. Tessa and Scott’s story of perseverance and triumph is amazing. They are two very remarkable people who, personally, have impacted me as some of my new role models. Their story makes me push myself harder in my dance classes and to see the world in a different way; where there is always a way to do something and that you can overcome and come back from anything. I hope that I can portray this feeling in my upcoming book review. Because I have finished reading about Tessa and Scott, I will be looking for a new book to read. I will be in contact with my mentor soon, and she is currently reading over my review on United We Spy. I think I have some ideas about what to read next; and because my English class is now reading The Great Gatsby, I am considering also writing a review for this book because the movie was so popular. However, if you have a certain book you want reviewed, feel free to contact my via the contact button on my website.
Well, that’s all for this week. I hope to have a new book picked out by next week and more of my speech written within the next two weeks, along with having the United We Spy book review up on my website. Thanks for reading!
