Have you ever wondered what happened after Alice left Wonderland? In A. G. Howard's novel, "Splintered", follow the adventures of Alyssa Gardner, Alice Liddell's great-great-great granddaughter, as she discovers the mystical land of Wonderland that her ancestor once marveled at as a young child. The story begins with Alyssa tortured by dreams and whispers of another world, the same affliction that committed her mother to the asylum years before, about talking bugs, plants, and fantastical creatures; including the mysterious winged boy, Morpheus, who tells Alyssa that the only way to end these dreams is to return to Wonderland and set everything Alice destroyed to right. Alyssa, desperate to save herself and mother from this curse that plagues her family, takes the plunge down the rabbit hole in hopes of ending the curse once and for all. Now as Alyssa works to end the chaos, she begins to uncover secrets to her ancestors' past that could change the course of her life forever.
"Unhinged"
In the second installment of A. G. Howard's "Splintered" series, follow Alyssa as she grapples between the two sides of her heart: her human moral and Wonderland madness. After supposedly defeating Queen Red and being crowned the new Red Queen, Alyssa returns to the human realm in hopes of balancing her royal duties and human desires as the half netherling queen she is. But things prove to be harder than expected with her mom freshly released from the asylum and the mysterious Morpheus filling Alyssa's mind with dreams of a decaying Wonderland pleading her to come back and save their home. But Alyssa isn't ready to leave her beloved family and new boyfriend Jeb she's just returned to behind and disregards Morpheus's dreams as schemes to make her return to him and Wonderland. Yet when Morpheus shows up in Alyssa's world and begins wrecking havoc on her personal life, Alyssa is forced to reconsider the state of Wonderland and what she's willing to sacrifice to save it. Find out what happens to Alyssa and Wonderland next in "Unhinged".
"Ensnared"
It's the ultimate battle in the third and final installment of the "Splintered" series as Alyssa embraces her Wonderland madness to save those she loves and defeat Red once and for all. With her mother stuck in a decaying Wonderland and loves Morpheus and Jeb trapped in the Looking Glass world, Anywhere Else, Alyssa enlists the help of her dad to seek the last open entrance to Wonderland after the portals imploded on themselves during her battle between Red on prom night. But it won't be easy and with the state of Wonderland quickly declining, Alyssa is on borrowed time to set things right again. Will Alyssa prevail against all odds and get her happily ever after? Or surrender before trying? Find out all this and more in "Ensnared" as Alyssa battles it out on the battlefield, and also in her heart, as the final battle between queens takes place.
The "Splintered" trilogy was the hands down best books I read this summer. I stumbled across the books one day while at Barnes and Noble looking for a new book to read. I will say that I didn't expect the first book to be that great but was pleasantly surprised when I began to gobble up "Splintered". The stories are well written and keep the reader on their toes with haunting yet beautiful imagery about Wonderland and characters everyone will love and related to; from Jeb, the sweetheart of a boy next door, Alyssa, the artistic girl with streaks of madness, to the seductive bad-boy Morpheus. I will say that Morpheus has to be my favorite character even though he can be manipulative and sneaky, he still has a great personality and never failed to make me laugh (there also something about his brooding charm that I'm sure other girls will fall in love with none the less). Whether you love Morpheus or hate him, there's sure to be someone or something that you'll absolutely love about these books. I cannot recommend them enough, especially for fans of Disney and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland stories. If you're looking for the next juicy read after the Harry Potter series, Twilight, Hunger Games, ect. then I encourage you to try A. G. Howard's "Splintered" books, which have rightfully earned their 5 out of 5 stars from me.
