So I have to admit, I actually saw the movie with a couple of friends before I read the book. But after seeing the movie, I knew I had to read the book. The story takes off right away. Before we even know Lou as a character, she loses her job and is forced to quickly find something else to occupy her time. And then we meet Will. Will is quite the character. I absolutely loved Sam Claflin who portrayed Will in the movie and I love how Moyers characterized and wrote him. There was so much depth and detail to his character and I absolutely loved it. Will and Lou are an unlikely pair but they soon overcome their differences and begin to teach other valuable lessons. I don't wait to give too much of the plot away, so I won't say much more other than it was a very well written novel and I love the realistic-ness of the romance within "Me Before You". The only thing bad I could say about this is how long it takes to reach the climax of the plot. In my opinion the whole objective of the plot and rising action is to prevent the climax from happening, which thus slows the rest of the story down creating a drawn out rising action and quick, simple but sweet resolution to the story. This idea bothered me a bit seeing as I had already watched the film and knew the ending but perhaps if I hadn't down that, I would have teared through the book faster, oblivious to my previous complaint. With this thought in mind, I'd encourage anyone interested in reading this book to read it before seeing the film (which is always the best idea!).
Until next time, ciao!
