I read the Princess Diaries series early on in my freshman year of high school after falling in love with the characters from the movie rendition. Cabot’s style, journal entries, was a different type of writing that I’d never read before. However, she’s able to make it work to her advantage as the main character, Princess Mia, is an avid journaler. It’s nice to see that even though Mia has grown up, and is well into her twenties, that she hasn’t lost her quirky personality or love of writing. Had I not been told as the reader that Mia was older now, I wouldn’t have guessed her to have aged so much; for she still writes with the heart of a teenager. This book is definitely targeted at the teenage audience even though Mia is now an adult. However, Royal Wedding was a fun read and I highly recommend it any Princess Diaries fan and readers who enjoys fairytales with a twist. 5/5 Stars for Meg Cabot’s new read.
It’s been years since the last installment of the Princess Diaries series, but now, Meg Cabot brings readers yet another book about Mia’s life as a grown woman. Since completing college, Princess Mia has been lost in a whirl wind of work; both personal and “princess” related. And with her father on the brink of losing the Genovian Parliament election to Mia’s crazy cousin Ivan, it seems as if this princess will never get a moment of peace. But when Mia’s longtime boyfriend, Michael, decides to take a relaxing vacation together, she never expects that he’ll pop the question. Now, Grandmere is using Mia’s engagement as a distraction for the scandals being brought to light by her father’s exotic past; while Mia is trying to uncover his secrets that could be the key to solving all of Genovia’s problems. Will Mia be able to uncover the truth and fix her father’s reputation, or is she doomed to be the ever failing Princess of Genovia? Find out these answers and more all while Mia prepares to be married in the latest Princess Diaries book, Royal Wedding.
